Venetian enamels for mosaics in Spilimbergo
Since 1926, the Donà family has been producing authentic Venetian enamels in Spilimbergo, bringing the great glassmaking tradition of Murano to the heart of Friuli.
Precious materials for mosaicists, artists, architects and professionals all over the world.

We are Vetreria Artistica Mario Donà & Figli, located in Spilimbergo, the city recognized worldwide as the capital of mosaic art. Since 1926, we have been producing Venetian smalti, Byzantine gold, and artistic mosaic tiles and tesserae, following the same techniques that Murano tradition has refined over a thousand years.
Our workshop is a place where glass is still made as it was a century ago: select raw materials, melting furnaces, hand-pouring, slow cooling, and cutting with hammer and chisel. It's not nostalgia; it's the conscious choice of those who know that certain results are achieved in no other way.
We sell directly to mosaic artists, restorers, art schools, professional workshops, and enthusiasts around the world. We have no intermediaries, and we don't have an e-commerce site: every order passes through our hands, with the care of a craftsman and the precision of someone who has known their product for generations.
From fire to tile: our complete range
Every product we create is born from the same process: artisanal fusion in traditional kilns, casting, controlled cooling, and hand cutting. What varies is the composition, thickness, and finish, to meet the needs of every mosaic artist and every type of work.
Nearly a hundred years of Venetian enamels, always in Spilimbergo
The history of Vetreria Donà began in 1926, when Beniamino Donà brought the Murano glassmaking tradition to Spilimbergo and founded the workshop that still produces enamels for artistic mosaics today. Four generations have succeeded one another at the helm of the company, refining the formulas, expanding the color range, and expanding international markets, while maintaining the artisanal production process that is the true soul of the product.
Spilimbergo was not a random choice: this small town in Friuli Venezia Giulia has been the seat of the Friuli Mosaic School, the most important educational institution in the world in the field of mosaic art.
Being here means being at the heart of a community of professionals, researchers, and artists who work with mosaics at the highest level. Our enamels leave the laboratory and end up in the works of some of the world's most important mosaicists.
