History
In order to emerge from a profound production crisis in the first half of the 19th century, Murano glassmakers rediscovered an ancient technique and made it contemporary. The production of Murrine glass, known in Roman times and applied by the Venetians in the 15th century, consists of joining different pieces of glass in various colours together and connecting them with a transparent glass casting or compacting them to obtain a multi-coloured mosaic effect in dishes and bowls. Murano glass masters used the Millefiori rod, composed of coloured glass layers, alternating shapes of stars and flowers with the use of special moulds. Once all the layers have been obtained, the barrel is elongated until the desired diameter is reached and once it has been cooled, it is cut to obtain small cylinders.

Millefiori are sold in packs of 100.
