Color, light and versatility
Transparent colored glass is the ideal material for those who want to bring mosaic into contemporary design. Unlike opaque glazes, transparent tiles allow light to filter through, creating iridescent color effects that vary with the ambient lighting and viewing angle. The result is a vibrant, modern material that complements any architectural style.
In the Mario Donà workshop in Spilimbergo, transparent glass is produced with the same care and precision reserved for Venetian smalti: direct fusion, controlled cooling, and hand-cutting. Each pane is the result of artisanal workmanship that guarantees consistent quality and authentic color rendition.
Where are they used?
Donà transparent glass is suitable for a wide variety of applications, both indoors and outdoors. It is particularly suitable for swimming pool cladding, where the transparency of the glass perfectly complements the color of the water, creating striking effects. It is widely used for kitchen and bathroom backsplashes and wall coverings, for wall decorations in residential and commercial spaces, and for designer flooring. Its resistance to water, chemicals, and temperature changes also makes it suitable for outdoor installations.
Transparent colors
The transparent plates measure approximately 27 × 60 cm and weigh approximately 3 kg.
They are available in two categories:
- normal colors
- extra colors
The plates can be purchased whole, in half (approximately 1.5 kg) or in quarters of a plate (approximately 700 g), so as to easily adapt to any type of processing.
To cover a surface of 1 m², on average approximately 25 kg of sheet material are required.
The range includes 52 available colours.
NORMAL TRANSPARENT COLORS
The basic range, with clean, bright shades suitable for most applications.
Codes TR 102, TR 103, TR 105, TR 112, TR 115, TR 116, TR 118, TR 120, TR 126, TR 128, TR 130, TR 142, TR 143, TR 145.
EXTRA TRANSPARENT COLORS
More intense and sophisticated shades, ideal for particular chromatic effects and design applications.
Codes TR 160 Normal, TR 202, TR 204, TR 206, TR 208, TR 210.
IMPORTANT NOTE: since the raw materials are not constant with each casting, the color may undergo small differences in shade.
Cutting the transparent tiles
The sheet used to make the transparent tiles has a thickness of approximately 10 mm and indicative dimensions of 27 × 55 cm, with a weight of approximately 3 kg.
The process initially involves cutting the sheet in half and then into quarters. Only at a later stage is the enamel cut into the various required formats.
The following cuts are available:
- 10 × 10 mm cube
- normal cut 13–16 × 10 × 6 mm
- 40 × 40 mm
- 40 × 20 mm
- 20 × 20 mm
- 20 × 10 mm
WARNING: EACH CARD IS UNIQUE!
The tiles are hand-cut using a manual cutter and are therefore not perfectly regular. This characteristic is an integral and distinctive part of our craftsmanship.
